All hail the 2008 King of the Jungle Joe Swash!
The Jungle Semi Final
It's official - Martina, George or Joe are set to be crowned king or queen of the jungle.
After a hilarious team trial in which the campmates had to battle through a cyclone to keep their stars in a specific position, the jungle was at last at peace. Joe and David entertained us with the filming of 'Biff Baff Boff w're celebrities' in which David dressed up as Nicola to perform.
Later Martina and David hiked to the celebrity chest to find a giant tea pot. Martina's task was to aim tennis balls at targets whilst David stood underneath a bucket filled with water of which he had to catch in a teapot on top of his helmut. The water caught would be used to fill up a tube that would release the chest key. After 5 hours of playing the game, the two tired contestants returned to camp only for them to fail in getting their question wrong.
At the end of the night, the campmates played 'Chocolate roulette.' Whilst Martina received a chocolate treat, George ate 3 sweets with a sour after taste. His facial expressions alone made the show worth a watch.
As the new morning dawned, David was chosen as the 9th campmate to leave the jungle. Taking with him entertainment, hilarity and controversy, it is lucky that there is only one day left, what with the over friendly camp that remains. A true character.
Tune in tomorrow to see who will gain jungle victory....
Bye Bye Si
After a gruelling 18 nights in the jungle; having faced vomiting, injury and hyperventilating fear, Simon Webbe left the jungle. Of his time in the jungle, Simon told Ant and Dec that he didn't expect to last as long as he did. Providing the camp with much needed strength and determination, Simon is sure to be missed by the rest of the camp that are left behind.
The War is Back On
Tonight saw Joe Swash fuming over DVD's "betrayal." And it looks like we will have to wait for David to get out of the jungle until we hear his side of the story as Joe vowed not to confront him on the matter. Time will tell.
Joe also took part in the Bushtucker trial - The Tower of Terror. A looming tower, Joe had to climb up the tower until he reached each of 6 platforms before crawling or balancing his way across to claim a star. - whilst attached to a helicopter. The final star hung in the air and instead of jumping for it, Joe climbed up the rope to retrieve it before climbing back down the ladder. All in all, pretty impressive.
Nicola McLean left the jungle tonight. Hugging all of the campmates but David she commented "You played a better game than me David" before turning to the others to say "watch out you've got a snake in the grass." Such a classy lady.
Harmony in Camp?
After a long 15 days of arguments, the campmates appeared to have made peace with one another. David and Nicola, dare we say it, were getting along. Sent to collect the chest together, the two striped down to their swimwear to scrub a mud covered car in a desperate search for hidden numbers that would open the chest. Laughing and mucking about with one another, all seemed well. That is until Nicola came back to tell everyone that David had said they should flirt with one another to keep them in til Friday alongside Joe. Once again, everyone secretly ganged up on David, even hiding the fact that they got a chocolate brownie and distributing it between the 5 remaining campmates while DVD was washing. Something tells me Nicola is taking David's comments a little too seriously. Get over it.
Elsewhere Simon took part in an underwater Bushtucker trial. Having experience a traumatic event in the water at a young age (the tide washed him out to sea) Simon bravely tackled the task and completed it despite his clear phobia. Gaining 6 out of the 7 stars, Simon unfortunately lost the 7th star when he let it go too soon.
Tonight also saw the exit of boring Brian Paddick. Having earned the camp a cooked breakfast by sleeping in a rat infested cage, Brian left the camp and not to campmates suprise. Nicola and Simon both commented they expected it would be him - who's game playing now?
Is the Bus debate over?
Last night saw the exit of jungle peace maker Esther Rantzen and the crazed laughter of Timmy Mallett. Defeated during the final trial by Brian, Timmy lift the camp to many of the others delight. Brian showed his twisted side by brandishing Timmy with a bad name (he grabbed onto Brian's arm in the trial which clearly meant it was an attempt to stop Brain winning, not because the vegetarian was gnawing on a metre long worm while trying not to vomit).
Brian furthered his pursuit to be disliked by viewers when he told David he will let him have his bed only to say behind his back "I ruined the plan to get David into the hammock." At this, Joe screamed fiery rage at Brian telling him, Simon and Esther that everyone has been bullying David from day one and its not right. Hearing this later, guilty Nicola broke into tears. Will she change her ways?
Dwindling Numbers
As the camp weedles down by the day, tensions are still continuing to rise over David and the new sleeping arrangements. After the exit of Robert Kilroy-Silk, Dani Behr and Carly Zucker, team Nicola is decreasing fast. But in an attempt to not let David settle happily in the jungle, Nicola has employed a new ally - Martina Navratilova. Determined to get David out of his new bus bed, the two scheming campmates plan their course of attack to take place in tonight's show.
That aside, Martina brought home 10 meals for camp after perfecting her trial - jumping from suspended Mini's in order to collect stars. David was pleased that he would be well fed for his birthday. To which only a few congratulated him on - you can guess the rest.
To end the show, Ant and Dec suprised campers with a showdown - the two contestants with the least votes will have to battle it out in a trial to claim their rights to stay and immunity from the next eviction. Narrowed down to Timmy and Brian, who will be able to drink their kangaroo testicle cocktail the fastest?
Ding Dongs in Camp
Camp arguments are beginning to heat up. First they argued over who gets to cook. Now they're arguing over who is the bully - Nicola or David? After making a slight dig as Nicola headed off to do her trial, many campmates jumped down David's throat despite Joe and Timmy's initial commments that provoked his eager joining in. Jumping to his defence, Joe criticised Simon and Carly for ganging up on David when nobody had reproached Joe himself for slating her. Good man.
Nicola's trial was fabulous to watch. Squealing in terror and only gaining three stars, if that doesn't put a cork in her condescending attitude, I don't think there's much that will.
Later on, Nicola, Silksy and Timmy battled for immunity, each having to stand in a cold pool of mucky water. Having listened to Timmy's insane cackling and rendition of 'Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny' for over an hour, Robert and Nicola gave up, leaving Timmy victorious.
Up next, is David in 'Hell-o-phone" will he be bringing home kangaroo meat? Or will it be rice and beans for camp?
Insania?
Has-been Van Day last night teamed up with tired Timmy Mallett to create a jungle song (much like predecessors David Gest and Peter Andre). After considering a possible TV show collaboration, the pair went over lyrics by the jungle bathing area. The lyrics to 'Biff Baff Boff' left much room for jungle jokes amongst campmates.
“Biff baff boff, we’re celebrities, biff baff boff, we’re down on our knees, biff baff boff, you don’t have to be on TV to be a celebrity.”
Troubles in Camp
Things are really heating up in camp. When David brought home 5 stars to dinner, the campmates were left pretty hungry and it didn't help David's likeability attempt - especially with egotistical Nicola. But, with the hardest challenge in the current series to date, you can't really hold this one against Van Day.
The next day hell broke lose a bit. Having won all 12 meals for camp during his coffin Bushtucker trial, Timmy was put out by Nicola's ignorant behaviour. Simon was injured during a spit roast immunity test, Joe was fuming over Dani shouting at Esther and Dani went away for a very public cry (looking for sympathy? Good luck Dani!). As dinner ended, Joe stormed to bed before breaking down in tears. A hard day for the campmates. Here's hoping Nicola will get her comeuppance during tonights trial - the Cave of Calamity - stay tuned.
Rumbles in the Jungle
The entrance of David Van Day and Timmy Mallet has caused quite a stir with the campmates. After refusing to release the newcomers from their jungle prison, sparks flew from angry David who later refused to sleep in the new sleeping area - a dank, dark cave.
Elsewhere, Silksy was chosen to perform the LIVE Bushtucker trial - a jungle gym loaded with unwelcome guests. A faultless trial, Robert scored all 12 dinners for the camp only ruined by the insane laughter of Timmy Mallet as Robert had slime dropped on to his face during some reps. Having already confided to Brian that there were past issues with Timmy, Robert seethed and covered the Wacaday star with sludge and cockroaches (we loved it!).
So, will the two new members redeem themselves tomorrow? Or are they merely plants to rile up the other contestants?
Camp of Ten to become Camp of 12
Camper's are heading for a shock suprise tomorrow night as two new inmates join Camp Camp.
Whilst rumours fly about who will be joining the crew, ITV bosses have claimed that whoever comes in will be kidnapped on their way in and locked in cages. It will be up to the camp to pay the ransom to free the new contestants - but at what price?
Tune in Thursday, 9pm, ITV.
Two Become One
Last night saw the joining of both Home and Away Camps. Tension was in the air - are sparks set to fly?
Third Times A Charm
Joe Swash was once again picked to take part in his third Bushtucker trial, this time competing against Robert 'Killjoy'-Silk. Titled 'The Chambers of Horror' Swash and Kilroy were instructed to climb down into an empty chamber where they were tied around the hands, feet and waist by shackles. With the objective of unlocking all 5 locks with 5 keys placed randomly around them, it was a pretty straight forward task only hindered by the chamber's slow filling with water.
To Swash's dismay Kilroy claimed victory only to win when the politician was discovered not to have completed the task correctly.
Shouting abuse that his lock was faulty, Kilroy was sheepish when proven his locks were just fine. Delighted Joe roared with laughter, patting his fellow camper's back before heading back to Camp Camp elated.
Kilroy, however, annoyed Away Camp by demanding his was a 'moral victory' - which clearly helped their hunger pangs that night.
The 'I Scream Van....'
A gruelling challenge between Joe Swash and Nicola McLean was as hard for them to do as it was for us to watch. Joe warned presenters Ant and Dec that he has a large 'gag reflex' and he wasn't kidding. After almost regurgitating Scorpions on a stick, a Cockroach Knickerbocker Glory, a wichetty grub and a crocodile's penis and testicles, Joe lost the challenge to Nicola after passing on one dish - Bush Fowl Feet (who can blame him?).
Proving she's more than breasts, competitive Nicola wolfed down 3 crocodile eyes, a cricket Knickekbocker Glory, 5 silk worms, a croc foot (3 toes and a chunk of the base) and kangaroo testicles to which she queried 'Can I get pregnant?' She may be a ditz but the girl has balls of steel.
